John Cena Vs Ryback in a Table match

It might be a stretch to call the WWE Champion “lucky” when he notches a Tables Match victory over a man he’s already beaten twice, yet the last-ditch effort that carried John Cena to victory over a surging Ryback in the main event of Raw was certainly more the product of a sudden burst rather than a slow burn.

Far from the “Cryback” that his detractors have labeled him as, the “Human Wrecking Ball” was ruthless from the beginning, manhandling Cena for the majority of the contest. Ryback remained keenly aware of his surroundings, setting up tables and destroying them himself when it looked like The Champ was about to turn the tide. Despite the Cenation commander’s resistance, Ryback looked to have him in hand after a Meathook Clothesline left Cena vulnerable against a table, yet The Champ avoided being plowed through the pine, striking with an Attitude Adjustment that put Ryback through the wood and brought the bout to its end.

The victorious Cena soon got another visitor in the form of Daniel Bryan, who mugged with the WWE Title for a few moments before returning it to its keeper. Friendly jockeying between rivals, or a subtle promise of things to come? Only a few weeks left before the WWE Universe gets its answer.

Daniel Bryan and WWE Champion John Cena signed their SummerSlam contract

No punches were thrown and no furniture was overturned, but even the most civil contract signing in recent WWE memory didn’t unfold without its fair share of controversy. Daniel Bryan seemingly had no ill will towards WWE Champion John Cena when they came out to put pen to paper. However, Raw GM Brad Maddox, who stood ceremony over the whole thing, wasn’t about to let the submission master walk away cleanly.

With minimal regard to his own bodily safety, Maddox first gave voice to the concerns of “some” that Bryan was an insufficient challenge for Cena at the summer classic before Bryan himself arrived to put those worries to rest. Yet, even a glowing endorsement from Cena himself didn't stop Maddox from organizing a particularly grueling gauntlet for the former World Heavyweight Champion: A back-to-back-to-back series of matches that would either show the WWE Universe what Bryan was made of … or expose him for the weak link that "some" apparently believed him to be

-Daniel Bryan def. Jack Swagger
-Daniel Bryan def. Antonio Cesaro

Daniel Bryan def. Ryback via Disqualification
The gauntlet was run, but Daniel Bryan wasn left among splinters after facing Ryback in the final of three bouts orchestrated by Raw GM Brad Maddox. The “Human Wrecking Ball” already declared he preys on the weak, and even though Bryan fought back valiantly by countering a Thesz press into a half-Boston Crab on Ryback’s injured leg, the big man continued his onslaught by simply out-muscling the submission master with power moves that landed with atomic force. Ultimately, much like their last confrontation, Ryback went for the statement over the pinfall when Bryan proved too stubborn to lose, powerbombing Bryan through a table he had erected at ringside.

With Bryan’s bouts ended, John Cena was free and clear to come to his challenger’s aid; The Champ chased Ryback from the ring and challenged him to a Tables Match the next week on Raw. Ryback happily accepted, but it’s unsure if Bryan will be so eager for his opponent next week, as mandated by Maddox and Mr. McMahon: Kane..

SummerSlam Preview: WWE Champion John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan

Posted on 21:54 by Unknown
SummerSlam Preview: WWE Champion John Cena vs Daniel Bryan
Given the opportunity by Raw General Manager Brad Maddox to name his challenger at SummerSlam, WWE Champion John Cena could have taken the easy way out. Instead, he did just the opposite, choosing as his opponent a Superstar who many consider the top performer of 2013, Daniel Bryan.
In naming the submission specialist as his No. 1 contender, Cena showed no small amount of respect for Bryan and the WWE Universe. Before making his decision, Cena polled the WWE Universe on the July 15 edition of Raw, taking their opinion into consideration. Few can deny that Cena chose wisely, as the WWE Universe chanted "Yes!" along with Bryan.
Tenacious, versatile and double-tough, Bryan is equipped with a sophisticated grappling acumen and enough athleticism to give any foe — regardless of the size or strength disparity — a tall challenge. Moreover, a slew of brave performances in recent months, punctuated with a submission victory over Randy Orton, have firmly endeared Bryan to the WWE Universe, which now embraces the bearded warrior with a gusto that rivals the adulation that the Cenation pays its commander-in-chief.
Although their paths have intersected before, Cena and Bryan’s journeys to the main event of SummerSlam are far from similar. The Champ has stood atop WWE almost since the day he arrived more than 11 years ago, using his power-based offense to accumulate 13 World Title reigns. Bryan, a one-time World Heavyweight Champion, has never held the WWE Title, and has toiled in relative obscurity for more than a decade, honing his craft in places as far away as Japan and venues as modest as high school gyms. These experiences all have served to make him arguably the most technically gifted competitor today, a fighter who relies on technique over might.
Despite their considerable differences — stylistically, aesthetically and otherwise — Cena and Bryan are bonded by a mutual desire to be the absolute best, and in WWE, only one title signifies that: the WWE Championship.
Daniel Bryan will have his moment in the sun when the 26th Annual SummerSlam takes over the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, but will WWE’s “Yes!” man have what it takes to displace the always-gutsy Cena, who seems more determined than ever to keep possession of the championship gold? Find out when the action airs live on pay-per-view Sunday, Aug. 18, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

WWE Monday Night RAW results 7/15/2013

WWE Monday Night RAW results 7/15/2013 in BROOKLYN, N.Y.

Brad Maddox addressed the WWE Universe
An appearance by WWE Champion John Cena led Maddox to declare that The Champ would be allowed to pick his own challenger for SummerSlam. Of course, the sudden appearance of Money in the Bank contract holder Randy Orton threatened to derail that proclamation before it even took hold, but it was an intrusion by Fandango that drove The Viper to the breaking point. 'Bows were thrown and a fight broke out, but thanks to a quick ruling by the Maddox – check out the big brain on Brad – the dancing fiend was made to face The Apex Predator himself in the first bout of the night.

John Cena selected his SummerSlam opponent
With his fate in his own hands, John Cena came to the ring in the closing moments of Raw to fulfill Brad Maddox’s history-making edict. But even with a smorgasbord of championship-caliber Superstars staring him in the face, Cena turned, instead, to the WWE Universe to help him make his choice. Not only did they responded with gusto, but they tipped their hand early as to who they wanted him to pick.

Showering The Champ with “YES! YES! YES!” chants, the WWE Universe guided Cena through a series of potential opponents (alas, Cena vs. Slater at SummerSlam will have to wait) and helped him land on a competitor who he – and the WWE Universe – seemingly felt deserved the match the most: Daniel Bryan. And in case his three-letter response was ever in doubt, WWE Unvierse, well … he said "yes" "YES!!!"

WWE's 25 hottest bodies; John Cena #2

WWE's 25 hottest bodies; John Cena #2

Back before he was the biggest Superstar of his generation, John Cena went by “The Prototype.” It was a fitting moniker for a guy who — with his exaggerated biceps, skyscraper traps and cable tight abs — looked like he’d been sketched by a comic-book artist who just sucked down his third 5-hour Energy. The Cenation leader’s bodybuilder physique gave way to a more utilitarian armor better suited for absorbing the rigors of the ring as he matured into an 11-time WWE Champion. However, the ladies of the WWE Universe never stopped screeching whenever The Champ yanked his shirt off.

WWE Pay-Per-View Results: Money In The Bank 2013

WWE Pay-Per-View Results: Money In The Bank 2013

PHILADELPHIA – All the might of The World’s Strongest Man wasn’t enough to wrest the WWE Championship from its world-beating bearer, as John Cena prevailed over a motivated, menacing Mark Henry to retain his prize for the third straight pay-per-view event at Money in the Bank 2013.

It was a challenge that Henry had feigned retirement and played every dirty trick in the book to attain, a bout meant to cap off a nearly 20-year career that had never included a WWE Title win. It was a brutal, inspired effort by one of WWE’s most enduring Superstars against its most decorated champion. It was one part physical, one part mental … and, when the dust had settled, it was still not enough for Mark Henry to get the job done.

It had, for some time, been looking like Cena’s days at the top were numbered. From Henry’s SAG-qualifying “retirement” speech to his foreboding threats toward The Champ over the last two weeks, the No. 1 contender had Cena’s number in the weeks leading up to the match. Henry’s career spent holding all major accolades except the WWE Championship seemed to have pushed him to a new level of aggression in pursuit of the ultimate prize, but Henry’s dismissal of Cena’s resilience was, ultimately, misplaced

The No. 1 contender seemed eager to assert his dominance over The Champ from the get-go at Money in the Bank. Henry kicked off his challenge by throwing powerful strikes and headbutts that drove Cena into the corner, but the behemoth seemed in no hurry to put the champion away quickly. Seemingly reveling in the opportunity to pick Cena apart, Henry used the ring itself to his advantage, slamming Cena into the steps and bouncing his head off the ropes in a grisly opening salvo that left the champion reeling, culminating the sequence in a pair of “kaiju”-caliber giant body swings that sent The Champ airborne.

Henry’s maneuvers weren’t enough to put Cena away for the three-count, but The World’s Strongest Man seemed far more preoccupied with the dismantling of Cena’s legend than his body. Humiliation was what he aimed to do in Philadelphia, and he certainly accomplished it for the better part by virtue of sheer power. An early attempt by Cena to hoist his 400-pound challenger up for a bodyslam went about as well as it did on Raw, and it looked for a very long time as if the mighty Cenation general was destined to be simply outpowered in the contest.

Cena found some wind by throwing body shots and shoulder blocks that finally took Henry off his feet, but while the subsequent Five-Knuckle Shuffle hit home, The Champ was unable to complete his famous finishing sequence and execute the Attitude Adjustment when his legs buckled under Henry’s weight once again. As Henry hoisted Cena up for further punishment, The Champ countered with a tornado DDT and, using every ounce of his strength, finally heaved The World's Strongest Man into the air for an Attitude Adjustment.

Alas for Cena, it was not enough.

The triumph of Cena’s Attitude Adjustment turned sour when he attempted a cross-body and Henry snatched The Champ out of the sky. He pulverized the titleholder with the World’s Strongest Slam, but Cena kicked out yet again to keep his reign alive. Henry turned to chicanery at this point, exposing a turnbuckle to use as a weapon — a strategy that backfired when The Champ shoved Henry himself into the bare steel and capitalized off his disorientation to lock in the STF.

The World’ Strongest Man escaped the hold by reaching the ropes, however, as Cena’s resilience began to build, Henry’s own confidence began to fade and he went for his most blatant cheap shot yet, shoving Cena into the referee and booting The Champ with a low-blow while the official regained his bearings. The illicit kick wasn’t enough to get the job done either, though, and The Champ kicked out at two once again.

At this point, the No. 1 contender looked to put the contest away with another World’s Strongest Slam, which Cena writhed his way out of, slipping from Henry’s clutches and to lock in the STF once again. Henry seemed as though he’d break the hold with the ropes again, but The Champ proved once again that heart is the strongest muscle when he grabbed the titan by his ankle and hauled him to the middle of the ring. With no sanctuary available to him, Henry finally succumbed to the submission hold and ended the bout with three taps to the canvas.

While Henry hobbled his way out of the ring, Cena immediately sprang to his feet in a dramatic reversal of their roles of late, seizing his title in preparation to fight lest The World’s Strongest Man look to make an example of him once again. Such a scrap was not to be, though. The humbled Henry slowly trudged back to the locker room in defeat lamenting what could have been, while a short distance away, Cena ascended the turnbuckle and basked in the glory of his Philadelphia win.

For all his power, Henry had considered himself a lock to win from the minute the match was announced. But perhaps he shouldn’t have been surprised that John Cena prevailed to defy the odds. It is, after all, what he does.

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 6/17/2013 in Chicago

Another championship celebration, another interruption. Only this time, Mark Henry’s intrusion of John Cena’s WWE Championship victory speech was something of a solemn affair at first. Sporting a cool pink suit and carrying his boots in his hand, The World’s Strongest Man seemed ready to prove the rumors right and end his career in WWE. With tears brimming in his eyes, the former World Champion voiced his love for The Champ, the WWE Universe, and his family (Mae Young, alas, went without props), formally retiring with a final address: “I’m coming home!”

Well, eventually, anyway. Henry then hit Cena with the World’s Strongest Slam, finishing what he started the night after WrestleMania and staking a claim for the WWE Title. Standing over the vanquished Champ, Henry snatched his boots and made his exit while the anti-Cena portion of the WWE Universe showered him with a somewhat appropriate chant: “You still got it!”

WWE Pay Back Pay-Per-View Results 2013

Posted on 22:38 by Unknown
WWE Pay Back Pay-Per-View Results 2013
John Cena vs. Ryback (three stages of hell)

in CHICAGO — The name Three Stages of Hell began to feel like an understatement by the time WWE Champion John Cena sent Ryback crashing through the roof of an ambulance at the end of their grueling trilogy at WWE Payback. A trip to the underworld would have felt like a weekend at the beach compared to what the Cenation leader and the "Human Wrecking Ball" put their bodies through in Chicago’s Allstate Arena.

In what was only the fourth Three Stages of Hell Match in WWE history, Cena fell to Ryback in the Lumberjack Match that opened their merciless series, but rallied to defeat the monster in a Tables Match and an Ambulance Match to retain his WWE Title. To finally stop his seemingly indestructible foe, Cena delivered an Attitude Adjustment to Ryback atop the ambulance, brutally driving the challenger’s 290-pound frame through the unforgiving steel roof.

It was a shocking visual that perfectly summed up what was one of the most physical rivalries of the WWE Champion’s career. Cena may have grown accustomed to adversaries who were willing to be more depraved than him, but he clearly struggled in the unfamiliar position of a man who was overpowered.

Maybe that’s why the determined Superstar appeared uncharacteristically cautious as he approached Ryback in the early goings of the Lumberjack Match. It’s possible that the 11-time WWE Champion was looking to preserve energy in what would be the sports-entertainment equivalent of a triathlon, but it’s more likely that the big man had Cena’s number from the jump.

With 30 Superstars surrounding the ring — including newly crowned Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel and brutes like Kane and Sheamus — the rivals had no opportunity to roll to the outside for a second of reprieve. This became a serious issue for Cena as Ryback repeatedly hoisted The Champ in the air and tossed him back to the mat as if he were a dumbbell. When the challenger launched Cena to the outside, villains like Antonio Cesaro and Cody Rhodes swarmed on the Superstar like lions on a wounded antelope.

Ryback wasn’t immune to the wrath of the Lumberjacks, but when all 30 Superstars ganged up on the "Human Wrecking Ball," Cena climbed to the top rope and threw his 250-pound frame onto the scrum. The high-risk dive may have been a tactical error on The Champ’s part as Ryback was able to Shell Shock Cena soon after to pin the WWE Champion and claim the first fall.

Now at a disadvantage, the Cenation leader knew he had to win the ensuing Tables Match, but the effects of Ryback’s finishing maneuver left the Superstar reeling. Cena had lost the WWE Title to Sheamus in a Tables Match at WWE TLC in 2009, and he had no interest in repeating that disappointing evening in Chicago. Still, there was little he could do against his hungry opponent.

The Champ’s unbreakable spirit propelled him forward, but Ryback beat Cena like the man owed him money. In a city that’s synonymous with rough-and-tumble competitors like The Road Warriors and One Man Gang, the "Human Wrecking Ball" displayed a brutality that’s uncommon in the current climate of sports-entertainment as he clobbered Cena with meaty clotheslines and even the steel steps.

Just when it looked like Cena’s fate was sealed, the WWE Champion managed to reverse Shell Shocked and send Ryback through the pine with an Attitude Adjustment. The Three Stages of Hell Match was now even, but the Superstar from Sin City still held the upper hand — something he made abundantly clear when he viciously powerbombed Cena through the announce table.

The rules of the Ambulance Match dictated that a Superstar had to place his opponent in the vehicle and close the doors in order to win. These dangerous stakes led Ryback to drag Cena up the entryway of the Allstate Arena into a chaotic environment of sharp steel and unforgiving concrete. Sensing that both his WWE Title and physical wellbeing were now in serious jeopardy, Cena brought the fight to Ryback, blasting him with crutches and throwing him into the side of the ambulance with such force that the door flew off.

The ambulance itself became a weapon as the "Human Wrecking Ball" tore off a piece of paneling and teed off on the champion. The two Superstars then scrambled onto the vehicle's hood, where Cena whacked his destructive opponent with the ambulance’s flashing lights. No matter what The Champ hit Ryback with, the monster continued to come forward — until both men stood atop the ambulance.

As the capacity Chicago crowd hit their feet, the Cenation leader hoisted all 290-pounds of Ryback onto his shoulders and executed an Attitude Adjustment, plunging him right through the steel roof. Not only was it a physically remarkable feat, but it was strategically brilliant — by putting Ryback inside the ambulance, Cena had won the match and successfully defended his WWE Title.

The brutality of Three Stages of Hell had clearly taken its toll on The Champ, but as Cena rose to embrace the WWE Universe with his title in hand, it was apparent that even the devil himself would have second thoughts about testing this man’s resolve.

The reigning WWE Champion showed no fear in his face-to-face confrontation with Ryback on Raw, and will likely show the same unflappable confidence in defending his title in the Three Stages of Hell Match at WWE Payback. Whether John Cena will leave the upcoming pay-per-view with the WWE Title or inside of an ambulance is another question.

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 6/3/2013

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 6/3/2013
in HARTFORD, Conn.

Daniel Bryan vs. Ryback

When Daniel Bryan promises to beat the respect out of someone, he will be beating the respect out of someone. Despite Ryback’s earlier assertion that he’d wipe the floor with the submission expert, their impromptu matchup left the “Human Wrecking Ball” so stunned he willingly ate a disqualification loss.

Watch Bryan's wild night unfold

In some ways, Ryback was lucky to even make it to the bout’s finale. Bryan dug deep into his arsenal of submissions, targeting Ryback’s legs in an attack that left the No. 1 contender to the WWE Title literally stumbling around the ring in agony.

With Bryan proving tougher than anticipated, Ryback decided he’d had enough and (literally) turned the tables, piledriving Bryan through a table and taking a DQ loss in the process.

But before the “Human Wrecking Ball” could send the “No!” man the way of Kofi Kingston, WWE Champion John Cena came to Bryan’s aid in a standoff that was mitigated by the arrival of Curtis Axel, whose own match against Cena was about to begin.

Curtis Axel def. WWE Champion John Cena via Count-out

"Chekhov's Table" struck and Curtis Axel’s winning streak continued in the finale of Raw when the third-generation prodigy clashed with the WWE Champion in a McMahon-mandated No Disqualification Match, riding an unlikely assist to another controversial victory. While Paul Heyman’s newest prospect may be a Superstar of few words, he proved himself to be a competitor of considerable brutality, swinging a steel chair and showing shades of his father and grandfather in a strong, veteran-level effort against the Cenation leader.

A comeback from Cena nearly left Axel in splinters when he hoisted the Heyman Guy up for the Attitude Adjustment and made for one of Ryback’s leftover tables, but a timely interference by Ryback himself liberated Axel from The Champ’s clutches. Ryback made his second statement of the night, plowing Cena through the pine while Axel scrambled back to the ring to beat the ten-count. Heyman Guy, 3; future WWE Hall of Famers, 0.

WWE Payback: WWE Champion John Cena vs. Ryback (Three Stages of Hell Match)

Posted on 14:25 by Unknown

WWE Payback: WWE Champion John Cena vs. Ryback (Three Stages of Hell Match)

Just one night after their epic Last Man Standing Match at Extreme Rules ended in a No Contest, the rivalry between WWE Champion John Cena and Ryback took yet another explosive turn.

Entering the Raw arena on May 20 behind the wheel of an ambulance, Ryback had plenty to say. Before he opened his mouth, however, the monstrous Superstar climbed atop the ambulance in a symbolic gesture of dominance. He then launched into a missive delivered to Cena and the WWE Universe, making strong statements about the brutal battle he and the WWE Champion engaged in just one night earlier.

Ryback then set the WWE Universe ablaze when he called out the Cenation leader, telling The Champ that the next time they meet will be at WWE Payback on Sunday, June 16, in an Ambulance Match!

Not happy with only an Ambulance Match, Cena — who said “payback should be hell” — upped the ante on the Memorial Day edition of Raw by revealing the two would square off in a Three Stages of Hell Match.

The 2-out-of-3 Falls Match will be contested in three stages:
Stage 1: Lumberjack Match
Stage 2: Tables Match
Stage 3 (if necessary): Ambulance Match

As Ryback made abundantly clear on Raw, Cena may have walked out of Extreme Rules with his title intact, but he didn’t exactly walk out of the pay-per-view. Instead, the Cenation leader was strapped onto a stretcher and carted out of the arena. But he’s been beaten down before, and as the WWE Universe is well aware, Cena doesn’t know how to give anything less than everything he has.

Can the titleholder overcome his ever-hungry foe at WWE Payback? Or will Ryback finally “rule” as the new WWE Champion? Find out on June 16, only on pay-per-view!

John Cena responded to Ryback’s challenge and faced down Curtis Axel

It’s been a week since the WWE Universe has seen John Cena in action, but let it never be said that the man doesn’t know how to respond to a challenge. The Champ was all business in his first trip out of the Titantron since being plowed through it by Ryback at Extreme Rules, and more to the point, he decided to see Ryback’s Ambulance Match proposition and raise the “Human Wrecking Ball” the rarely-seen Three Stages of Hell Match (think a 2-out-of-3-Falls Match, with special rules for each round ... in this case, Lumberjack Match, Tables Match and then an Ambulance Match).

Ryback was, of course, more than happy to accept and (in keeping with the theme of their bout) name himself Cena's own personal Beelzebub. But the sudden arrival of Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman turned the pow wow into a Canadian Standoff, the endgame of which was that the reborn progeny of Mr. Perfect secured himself a one-on-one match with the WWE Champion for later that evening. Sometimes it pays to be a Paul Heyman Guy.

Curtis Axel def. WWE Champion John Cena via Count-Out

Down goes Cena! Down goes Cena! Granted, Curtis Axel’s second Raw win in as many weeks happened under equally dubious circumstances as the previous one, but the record books will still reflect that Curtis Axel, Paul Heyman Guy, defeated the WWE Champion in Week Two under the mad scientist’s wing.

Everyone from Bret Hart to Cena himself questioned Axel’s alignment with Heyman, but the young gun certainly made an argument for their arrangement in a masterful performance against The Champ, keeping Cena on his heels and executing a textbook Perfect Plex for a near-fall. But before Cena could mount his comeback, the sight of an approaching ambulance lured him out of the ring. Of course, the arrival of the vehicle was a ruse for Ryback to mount a sneak attack. While Cena was able to thwart the big man’s attack, the damage was done. The Champ had lost the match, and Ryback’s implied message was clear: If Cena doesn’t watch his back, he’ll lose at Payback as well.

WWE Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View Results 2013

WWE Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View Results 2013

ST. LOUIS — Ryback and WWE Champion John Cena threw everything they had at each other during Extreme Rules’ Last Man Standing Match. When the dust settled, it was clear both Superstars had hit the wall – figuratively and literally – and no man was left standing.

Who was the better competitor Sunday night? That remains a subject of debate. On the minds of the entire WWE Universe, meanwhile, is the wellbeing of the two match participants.

The bout was ruled a No Contest after 20-plus minutes of hard-hitting action culminated with a spectacular collision that not only brought the bout to an end, but also endangered the near-term careers of the WWE Champion and his top contender. While fighting on the entrance stage, Ryback bulldozed the Cenation leader through the entrance stage wall, sending sparks from broken light bulbs flying in the process.

Per the rules of the contest, which stipulated the winner must incapacitate his foe to the point of being unable to respond to a 10 count, official Charles Robinson had no choice but to rule the match over when neither The Champ nor Ryback could rise to his feet and break the count.

As WWE officials and medical personnel rushed to tend to the battered warriors, the WWE Universe inside Scottrade Center buzzed with excitement over the scene that transpired. Although it is too early to know the condition of either Superstar, Cena was removed from the scene on a stretcher, while Ryback left with assistance from officials. On the Extreme Rules Post-Show, cameras caught Cena removing his neck brace, getting off the gurney under his own power, and refusing further medical attention.

It was clear from the get-go that the Cenation leader was competing at less than full health. To even fight in the No-Disqualification, No-Count-out Match in the first place, The Champ courageously had to battle through a lingering Achilles tendon injury that would portend trouble in the most conventional of match types, let alone a Last Man Standing Match.

As it turns out, Ryback did not need to exploit Cena’s heavily taped ankle to gain an early upper hand. At the bout’s outset, the matchup looked wholly lopsided in the challenger’s favor..

Ryback plowed through Cena with his powerhouse offense. Although The Champ attempted his tried and true combinations, the effort seemed almost futile: Ryback brushed off Cena’s classic bulldog variation and ran through The Champ with a Lou Thesz press variant.

The top contender easily maneuvered the outsized Cenation leader. Screaming “easy” as he lifted Cena overhead in a gorilla press slam, Ryback demonstrated his power time and time again. He used a deadlift powerbomb on Cena, as well as a fallaway slam through a table. The latter impact kept the tenacious Cena down for a count of eight.

Ryback averted an Attitude Adjustment and connected with his “Meat hook” Clothesline, but a second attempt at his well-known lariat was reversed into an STF by the cagey WWE Champion. Cena appeared to knock Ryback unconscious, but the challenger made it to his feet at the count of nine.

Cena kept the momentum going when he countered a Shell Shocked into an Attitude Adjustment through a table — the second splintered table of the contest. Living up to his indestructible reputation, Ryback made it to his feet with one second left on the referee’s count.

As the action spilled into the WWE Universe, fans in the Scottrade Center got a close-up view of the heated battle. In fierce impact, Ryback slammed a piece of board, seemingly from a penalty box, against Cena’s skull. The Cenation leader joined his opponent in pulling out all the stops, later leaping out of the stands to splash Ryback through yet another table. The strategic Cena then got hold of a fire extinguisher, which he used to chase Ryback onto the stage. Two successive strikes with the fire extinguisher almost dropped Ryback for good.

Then, with Ryback positioned for an AA on the stage, fate took a turn for the worse, with Ryback spearing Cena directly into the set. EMTs were called for almost immediately as officials inspected the two warriors’ prone bodies.

Theodore Long comments on being first to arrive on the scene

The scary conclusion of the WWE Championship Match leaves in question the status of the WWE Championship scene and Ryback’s position as the top contender. As details emerge about the extent of any injuries suffered tonight, the WWE Universe is left to wonder just how the Cenation leader will recover from his first defense on pay-per-view of his 11th WWE Championship.

"John Cena technically gave The Shield their first collective loss in WWE, but given the beating he took after the match, it’s probably safe to say the reigning WWE Champion isn’t celebrating that fact. Cena needs to recover as best he can from his lingering Achilles injury or risk losing his coveted title to Ryback at Extreme Rules"

WWE Champion John Cena & WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No def. The Shield via Disqualification

Good news and bad news: The good news is, The Shield have finally been defeated. The bad news is, not only did it take a technicality for the NXT alums to suffer their first loss in a Six-Man setting, but they seemed to have willingly taken the defeat for the sake of decimating John Cena. The men in black’s opponents for the night were the same as a couple of weeks ago — Cena & Team Hell No — but there was one twist to their latest bout: The match would be contested under elimination rules.

The twist seemed likely to even the odds better, but it was Cena & Co. who found themselves at a disadvantage when their numbers thinned before The Shield’s did. Cena nearly rallied to win the match after Bryan & Kane were tossed, trapping Dean Ambrose in the STF before he was swarmed into the Triple Powerbomb. The attack came after tag title challengers Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns had already been eliminated and technically cost The Shield the match, but the NXT alums seemed more than willing to pay the price. Cena’s night went from bad to worse in quick measure afterward when Ryback emerged from the locker room, striking The Champ in his injured foot to give himself one final leg up (literally) on Cena before Extreme Rules.

"The WWE Champion, already hobbled physically by a lingering Achilles heel injury, got some more bad news Monday night when Ryback let John Cena know the stipulation for their Extreme Rules Title Match. When the two titans lock up on May 19, they will do so in a Last Man Standing bout — certainly not the most advantageous of circumstances for a limping champion"

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 5/6/2013

Ryback named the stipulation for the WWE Title Match at Extreme Rules

Yes, John Cena is hurt, and last week did him no favors. But as The Champ himself said in the opening moments of Monday Night Raw, anyone who thinks a gimpy Achilles heel will keep him from defending the WWE Title against Ryback at Extreme Rules hasn’t been paying attention for the last 10 years.

Unfortunately for Cena, Ryback seems to be operating on a higher level than the crazed Cro-Magnon Cena takes him for. Because, when Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero invited the “Human Wrecking Ball” out to powwow on a stipulation for the title match at Extreme Rules and Cena deferred, Ryback vowed to exploit both Cena’s literal and metaphoric Achilles heel, his refusal to ever back down. Looking less to defeat Cena than to humble him before his fans, Ryback placed The Champ in a stipulation he promised would make the wounded champion regret he didn’t back out of the bout when he had the chance: a Last Man Standing Match.

Ryback def. WWE Tag Team Champion Kane.

Ryback certainly awoke a sleeping demon in Kane when he insulted Daniel Bryan earlier in the evening, but the “Human Wrecking Ball” still stood tall over The Big Red Monster, defeating The Devil’s Favorite Demon in a grandiose clash straight out of an old monster movie. The onetime teammates swung, slammed and smashed each other into pieces for the better part of 20 minutes, but it was Ryback who came out on top, planting The Big Red Machine with Shell Shocked for the 1-2-3.

Although the victory was his, Ryback looked like he’d have extra problems to contend with when The Shield made their presence known. But while Bryan was quick to join the fracas, Ryback vacated the ring and only re-emerged when John Cena appeared to even the odds. With the scales balanced, Bryan, Cena and Ryback were able to drive the NXT alumni away … but Ryback wasn’t above punctuating his point from earlier in the evening. Having exploited Cena’s heroic tendencies and lured him into the open, the big man clobbered The Champ with a chair and left him down, an ominous display that proved Ryback, with his unique combination of brains and brawn, may just rule yet

"John Cena’s Achilles injury cost him a chance to put The Shield in the loss column on Raw, and left the WWE Universe wondering how it will factor into his match against Ryback at Extreme Rules 2013. The WWE Champion has much to answer for when he steps into the spotlight on Raw next Monday."

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: April 29, 2013 in COLUMBUS, Ohio

John Cena introduced his Make-A-Wish guests to the WWE Universe

The Champ is here, and he brought some friends with him. Just hours after an appearance on “Today,” John Cena came to Columbus with three guests of honor trailing behind him: a trio of Make-A-Wish kids who were named honorary WWE Superstars for the evening. With the WWE Universe cheering them on, Cena introduced the WWE Universe to their three newest heroes — Jacob “The Eliminator” Larson, Nicholas “Nick The Stitch” Santillo and “Lightning” Logan Parks. Judging by the reaction of the WWE Universe to their debuts, it sounds like they’ve got big things to look forward to in the WWE family.

The Shield def. WWE Champion John Cena & WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No

Three champions, one injured ankle and three tolls of the bell: Not even the tip-top trio of the WWE Champion and WWE Tag Team Champions could stop The Shield’s winning streak, as the “Hounds of Justice” made mincemeat of Team Hell No and the wounded John Cena in their second Six-Man Tag Match in as many weeks, keeping their undefeated streak alive.

Despite a lingering injury to his Achilles tendon, Cena was game from the start in the epic contest, though the tag champs were hesitant to tag him in thanks to his injury. Kane (whose fury over his brother's beating
nearly got the trio disqualified at one point) eventually summoned Cena in a last-ditch effort, but The Shield would not be denied, and it was Roman Reigns who ultimately struck the hobbled Cena down with a spear for the three-count.

But Cena’s evening wasn’t done, as Ryback (who had supposedly left the building) quickly made his way to the stage to stare Cena down, daring him to rally in time for their WWE Title Match at Extreme Rules, or better yet, daring him to back out.
