As the competitors battled their way back toward the ring, Cena slammed Del Rio into ring barricade. With his foe down, the Cenation leader went back to the stage to search through the gifts for another weapon. At the WWE Universes’ prompting, he opted for the Christmas tree, which he used to charge toward Del Rio and smash him to the arena floor. With The Mexican Aristocrat down and writhing in pain, Cena unwrapped a bowling ball and rolled it into Del Rio, leaving him in agony.
In response to Miz’s question as to why AJ cost Cena the Money in the Bank contract at WWE TLC and kissed Ziggler one day later, the unpredictable Diva accused Cena of playing with her heart. She said while she lost her job as Raw General Manager to keep his name clean and wanted to rejoice in them growing closer together, he toyed with her emotions and broke her heart, insulting the gifts she made for him, deny her offers of support in his matches in the name of “safety” and generally trying to keep her hidden like a “dirty little secret.” In response, she helped Ziggler break him.
And with Big E Langston and AJ Lee looking on at ringside, that is exactly what it was. While the determined Big Show & Ziggler combination maintained an impressive advantage for a good amount of the match, once the resilient Celtic Warrior reached his partner, the leader of the Cenation took charge.
First thing’s first: Why AJ, why?
Ziggler began the match with a strut in his step (literally, he did Ric Flair’s strut) and went mano a mano against Cena with mat wrestling techniques, looping in and out of various holds before AJ tagged in and Vickie swarmed the former Raw General Manager in the ring. AJ vacated the contest following Vickie’s mauling, with the Managing Supervisor following suit and leaving Cena and Ziggler to their own devices. The two Superstars clashed mightily, with Ziggler nearly felling the Cenation leader until Cena turned the tables.

With Dolph Ziggler sitting at commentary, Cena came out swinging against The World's Largest Athlete and that strategy worked about as well as you'd expect, with the giant showing no ill effects after the Cenation leader's opening sequence. The two strongmen took turns slugging each other for the majority of the contest before Cena made his big play, reversing Big Show's chokeslam into a DDT and showing off his agility in an attempt to slow down the giant's momentum. Big Show countered with a power move of his own, wrapping the 10-time WWE Champion in an iron-tight bear hug and forcing Cena toward the mat.
Seth Rollins stormed the ring from cover of the crowd, swarming Cena (and giving him the win via disqualification in the process) as his Shield cohorts quickly followed suit. As Big Show joined in the onslaught, fire erupted from the stage and Team Hell No sprinted down to the ring to even the odds. Dolph Ziggler was next in the fray, tilting the scales back away from Cena and company and bringing out Sheamus to level the playing field yet again. The Celtic Warrior made a beeline for Ziggler, accosting The Showoff out of the ring and into the crowd while Cena speared Big Show through a table propped up against the turnbuckle.
There are big tag team matches, and then there are big tag team matches. It's fair to say the marquee tag contest that unfolded in Greensboro fell in the latter category when John Cena & Sheamus joined forces against the formidable duo of Dolph Ziggler & World Heavyweight Champion Big Show.
Cena attempted to take Big Show down with his flying shoulderblocks, but he might as well have been trying to take down a brick wall. Show withstood Cena's attacks without so much as a flinch and proceeded to manhandle the 10-time WWE Champion, scoring a near-fall after Cena's attempt at a powerslam went sour.
Sheamus rampaged into the match with untamed fury, felling Big Show with power strikes and even knocking the giant off his feet. The World's Largest Athlete retaliated quickly, though, cutting the battering ram off mid-leap with a spear. After tenderizing The Celtic Warrior, Show called for Ziggler, and The Showoff went to work against Sheamus, looking to put The Celtic Warrior away with a headlock. Sheamus replied with an Irish Curse and, sensing the time was right, called Cena back in from the corner.
John Cena will host Vortexx on The CW this Saturday morning from 8:30-10:30am, the weekly block of children’s programming that includes WWE Saturday Morning Slam. A press release sent out by WWE states:
As Sandow continued his attempt to secure the biggest win of his career, Cena overpowered him, tossed him face first to the mat and applied the STF. The Intellectual Savior of the Masses immediately tapped out, giving Cena a hard-fought victory and allowing the Cenation leader to focus once more on Dolph Ziggler.
